Therapeutic Massage - 1 Hour change

I believe my clients work hard for their money and should be treated well.  I also believe an hour massage should actually last an hour!  That being said, your initial appointment will be up to 90 minutes as there is a short intake form for you to fill out.  Then I would like to get to know you, what areas need attention, and what results/goals you have for your session.  Following appointments will last 15 minutes longer than the session duration you schedule as communication is required to be an a effective bodyworker.  Knowledge about you (communication) is just as important as knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage technique to help you achieve the goals you have for yourself as they relate to massage therapy.

CranioSacral Therapy is a bodywork method that focuses on gently stimulating your CranioSacral system (membranes and fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord) to heal the body by improving the functioning of the central nervous system. CST effectively complements your body’s natural healing process, and has been known to help alleviate a wide variety of problems including:

  • Central Nervus System DisordersChronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • TMJ
  • Fibromyalgia

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system.  As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor.  I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis.  This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.

On-Site/Chair Massage is available for you to spoil your staff, customers, vendors, or whomever you choose.  Rates are subject to time desired and distance travelled.

Outcalls for individuals are also available for shut-ins, the homebound, or others who need special accommodations.

Polarity Therapy is based on the idea that a person's health and well-being are determined by the natural flow of energy through the body. Polarity refers to the positive and negative charges of the body's electromagnetic energy field.  Therapy is based on the theory that a smooth flow of energy maintains health, while disruptions in the flow caused by trauma, stress, poor nutrition, and other factors lead to energy imbalances, fatigue, and illness.

Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.  Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.  We use a special table for this type of massage which can allow the expectant mother to lay on her stomach because of the cutout in the table with a support to actually "cradle" the baby during your session.  Please contact the office for details on the table used during this type of massage and how beneficial massage can be for this very special time for both you and your baby.

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet.  Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body.  According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet.  Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that cleanses and balances the energy patterns in the body. As a result, the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum mental, emotional, and physical health.  During a session, I work in energetic connection with you in order to remove blockages, detoxify your energy system, and restore your vital life force energy.  The Reiki technique utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us.  The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transforming.

A "Nurturing the Mother" certified therapist means your session(s) are focused on you and your little one(s) to address where you are in your pregnancy to help minimize (if not eliminate) discomforts along the way until the day you meet face to face.  Certified areas include pregnancy massage, labor massage and support, postpartum massage, reflexology for pregnancy and childbirth, related cautions and contraindications, and nurturing the couple instructor training.  Areas of expertise include information to make your pregnancy as well as labor and delivery an easier process by preparing your body for the arrival of your precious gift, extensive knowledge of contraindications and pathologies, focused bodywork by trimester to address the physiological and biomechanical changes to your body, information/questions to ask your primary care provider to ensure your labor and delivery are more a joyous event rather than a "crisis", partner (for each of you) massage to deepen the bonds between you both during this special time, massage during labor and birth is available especially to those working with a mid-wife or doula for an at-home birth, postpartum (our western culture spends very little time with this critical period compared to other cultures) care to begin to transition the mother to the phases of motherhood, and techniques for parents regarding newborn and infant stages for massage.
    • Prenatal Massage - 90 Minutes $135
Your session will be accomplished in a side lying position with bolsters and pillows to comfort you as we work to focus on the goals of where you are during your pregnancy to help you to relax and continue to prepare your body for the arrival of your precious gift.  Pregnancy tables with the “belly” cutouts may feel very good to the mother, but they actually increase lordosis (exaggerated curvature of the lumbar spine) and restrict bloodflow to the placenta because of the length of time in the prone position.  Muscle groups worked will depend on the trimester to focus on allowing your pregnancy, labor, and delivery to be less stressful both physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Depending on what we find in your session, there may some exercises recommended which have proven beneficial to others with similar findings.
    • Postpartum Massage Package of 3 $300
The recommended frequency for this package is 3 days, 7 days, and 10 days after delivery to help the new mother recover from labor and delivery and make the shift to motherhood easier.
    • Postpartum Massage $135
Postpartum massage helps the mother’s muscles, hormones, emotions, and whole body recover from birth and embrace motherhood. Our culture gives little attention to this important time while other cultures have daily focused attention to the mother to help her transition, but this is accomplished by focusing on muscles to help the new mother relax, stimulation of acupressure points through reflexology to help with the new challenges of motherhood, and post session consultation to discuss options for improvement for mom.
